"We must go beyond the
illusion of our limitations. We are more than we realize!"
Defying everyday experience
Everyone seeks to understand the mysteries of the self, however some choose to bring this into focus and search to answer the bigger questions.
Ji Living is a way of living. It removes the hazy, undeveloped, unexplored and complexity of life’s mysteries, and provides a blueprint, an opportunity and a system to discover thetruth for ourselves, ultimately allowing a legacy for living, and inspiringlove and happiness.

During Wanderlust, I took a meditation class taught by Swami Govindananda. We were seated on the grass by the ocean in a lovely tent. He was sitting on the ground smiling as we entered and just by walking in, I could feel his level of presence. He started by telling us of his devotion to understanding the mysteries of life and introduced philosophy.
What was really profound was when he told us that everything we love and believe we own, we do not. Everything in life, including us. is impermanent. It is really beautiful to see things in this way because then we have so much more that just our bodies and what is tangible. He talks about how are are souls and how the body is not actually ours.
Love and joy come from deep within our heart space. We cannot find true happiness in the external world. I have heard this before, but you can hear something a thousand time sand never fully understand it until the right teacher comes along and says it. It was a gift to listen to Swami Govindananda and the amount of presence he has behind every word.

Swamiji and Carmen have been involved with our Canberra community and two yoga studio’s for the last few years. Swamiji has delivered many workshops, in house retreats, and information sessions to our yoga students. He is one of the best teachers we have ever had the pleasure of hosting – delivering philosophy and ancient teachings in a meaningful, yet practical and humorous way. His knowledge is deep, giving him the capacity to sit with any audience – from those who are new and curious, to those who have a regular spiritual practice. Compelling, easy to understand and insightful – Swamiji is often sought out by us and our students regularly for one on one sessions. Swamiji and Carmen’s sessions are often combined with kirtan, creating an experience that is rare and special. We look forward to hosting them regularly, as they have become a big part of our community…

Swami Govindananda impacted our community with a calm nature and wise presence. His delivery of fundamental concepts of Vendanta was easily understood and accessible to all, and his humor and wit made the session a delight to be involved in. We look forward to learning more from Swamiji and embracing him in our beautiful community. A true example of a modern day Yogi for us all.

I found last night a life-changing experience! For me it was one of the best ‘presentations’ Ive ever seen. His faultless and penetrating oration punctuated with anecdotes and humour but always to the point was a joy to experience! The music was so powerful too and superbly played and sung. WOW! So thanks Swami Govindananda and Carmen.

He is a wonderful teacher and communicator – wise, humorous, accessible, clear, generous, authentic and humble. And he delivers his teachings with a knowledge and wisdom that are profound, deep and inspiring.
He takes what some of us have been blessed to experience on the mat or in life – those peek moments where the sense of wholeness, love, quietude and peace we feel are an expression of our mind, hearts and bodies beating as one and we reside in a Space that is vast and undisturbed by time or thought – and gives us an understanding of this, our essence, our higher Self and the bigger picture of life and death.
And he illuminates the wisdom that lies at the heart of Yoga, which is both its beginning and end, with clarity and anecdotes that are both easy to digest and inspiring, reminding us once more of what is important and true.
It is a privilege to be able to hear this wisdom (and experience the high vibration of the traditional Kirtan chanting) and to receive it in an environment that is dedicated to sharing that energy and supporting all of us as individuals and a community.

We had the honour and pleasure of having Swamiji Govindananda speak at our Inaugural International Ayurveda and Yoga Conference in April 2006 in Sydney, which was a landmark event and the first of its kind in Australia! He once again did us the honours by presenting at our 2nd International Conference in April 2009 at the City Recital Hall in Sydney CBD together with 11 International speakers.
In 2006 Swamiji was a keynote speaker at our Conference and he had the whole crowd of nearly 400 participants all spell bound for 50 minutes! He also conducted a post conference workshop for which we received very positive feedbacks. He once again enthralled the audience this time in April 2009 with his dynamic presence and his knowledge. He also came to our rescue on one of the three days when one of the speakers was running late by having a chanting session with his group in the morning. He is a great singer and plays the harmonium beautifully. People were amazed hearing him sing sanksrit and hindi bhajans with excellent pronunciation as a westerner.
His diction, his wisdom, his classic style makes him a great Orator and we were so happy that we got this opportunity to have Swamiji once again capture the audience with his pearls of wisdom on the Bhagvad Gita and the Indian philosophy of Bhakti Yoga! He is a dynamic speaker and wherever he speaks people get so entranced with what he has to deliver! It comes from his heart and soul!
Swamiji takes you on a journey of the soul to find and experience your true reality, inner peace and happiness and ultimately, the love divine.
We would not hesitate to recommend Swamiji for any conference, as people will benefit greatly with his wealth of spiritual knowledge and experience in connecting with their Higher selves and achieving that mental equilibrium to sooth the senses and calm the mind, which is so much needed these days, with our busy lifestyles!

We feel extremely blessed to have met Swami Ji and to have hosted him at our yoga school. I look forward to his return to teach a weekend yoga philosophy course in June 2018 at our studio.

When I first met Swami Ji it was very evident that he was a man of considerable knowledge and ability. After hearing him speak, I was quickly moved to invite him to be part of Inspya yoga’s Teacher Training Course. Swami Ji has the ‘X’ factor and brings light and warmth wherever he goes.

It was a genuine privilege to host Swamiji at Yoga Synergy. For 90 minutes he spellbound more than 80 people with his depth of knowledge, sense of humour and beautiful presentation. One thing really stood out and that was his ability to speak on profound philosophical subjects in a most easy to understand manner. A wonderful evening. Thank you Swamiji.

Dear Swamiji, I was blessed to have been present at your beautiful morning meditation at Wanderlust Festival. In that one hour, you took me on a journey of self discovery, as I started finding my true heart, my authentic soul being, and at the same time, I was gifted from you the recognition of how I want to live each and every day.. Thank you.. I honor the path that you have walked and the knowledge that you are now able to share with us all from your own life learnings. With love and deep gratitude.
I met Swamiji in 2000 at an evening held at the Grand Hotel in Glenelg SA. I had never heard of a Swami or Bhakti Yoga before that time.
I was taken in by Swamiji’s humor and ability to explain the deeper lessons of life through his stories.
Swamiji has gently guided and encouraged me to implement Bhakti Yoga into my life for 15 years now and continues to do. I can whole heartedly say that it has improved my relationships, stress levels, health and well being. Forever grateful.
I first saw Swamiji’s photo in a newspaper in Adelaide in 1994, advertising a lecture he was to give there. I distinctly remember thinking that the quality of his facial expression and look in his eyes expressed a calm knowledge and understanding of life which was unusual and not seen in day to day people. I followed my instinct and attended a series of philosophical lectures by Swami Ji that explained with pristine logic and contemporary practical examples ‘who I am’, and ‘why I am here’ – questions I had not thought to ask myself, but the answers to which explained why I was not an entirely happy and contented human being, regardless that I had all life had to offer – family, home, friends, health etc.
That was over 20 years ago, and I have been practicing the methods of yoga and mind management expounded by Swamiji ever since, with varying degrees of intensity of commitment. I can say that the generous benefits of my practices have been directly proportional to the efforts I exert, and because of my practice I have achieved what I like to think is balanced success on a worldly level, whilst progressing towards an ever increasing understanding and experience of my spiritual nature. And it rocks!!
Swamiji has given me an invaluable gift, and he continues to help me unwrap the jewel within!
I had been attending classes on Buddhism for about 2 years when, by chance, I read in a local paper that Swami Govindananda was presenting a talk not far from my home. Out of curiosity I went along – and never again returned to my previous classes.
From that very first talk, there was so much that made sense, and many things just seemed to fall into place. Swamiji is clear and precise in his presentations, to which he adds his keen sense of humor, it’s not all serious! He is also down to earth and approachable, and just on 11 years after that very first talk, I feel so blessed to have found a teacher of such a high calibre.
My first encounter with Swamiji will remain one of my life’s most memorable moments. We met after he’d given a talk on Bhakti Yoga and Kirtan. I had a lot of questions to ask, about the death of my father; through to why and how am I here? What is a genuine spiritual path? and where do I go from here?
We arranged after the talk to have a one on one meeting. That afternoon I was completely enthralled with the profound wisdom, warmth, love and honesty he conveyed. After that meeting and attending Satsang and retreats, along with an epic trip to India, I feel that the answers to those initial question are gradually being revealed…
Love and thanks to Swamiji.

I met Swami Govindananda in 1993. A very close family member had passed away which sparked my curiosity, journey and search for some understanding of this life around me: “Is this all there is?” “What is death?” “Who am I?”
“What is the purpose of life?” “Why am I here?” “What is love?” “Why is this life temporary?” “How do I make the most of it?”
This is when I met Swamiji – and how amazing was that! I met Swamiji at a talk and at that very moment I found all these hard and long standing questions answered and delivered in way that was easy to understand, inspirational, hopeful and moreover humorous. I had read books about such personalities who had dedicated their lives to this search and like many others this was the first time I met a real live Swami, but I found any cultural divide was surprisingly easy to bridge. The way Swamiji presented the Master’s knowledge and strength with devotion and clarity created a sense of something special, rare and of purpose.
I found a beautiful support with Swamiji which has stood the test of time – especially with his one on one guidance. Whenever I needed to take a new direction or how to live and integrate the philosophy in everyday to day life he has always been there for me. Ji Living has given me a resource that I could draw upon and a place where I can connect, breathe and be myself. The Ji Living community has given rise to a wonderful template to live life providing a sense of balance, joy, and a support of quality like-minded people who engage in all activities and responsibilities of the world and yet are not swamped by it.
We truly enjoyed Swami Govindananda’s visit. He is a charming man and simply a pleasure to be around. The lesson he shared with us about happiness and the gunas was enlightening and easy to understand and apply to everyday life. Everyone walked out glowing and uplifted after the experience of his lecture, guided meditation, and the beautifully hypnotizing mantra music! Glad to call Swami Ji and Carmen our friends and hope they can visit the next time they are in our part of the world.

I met Swamiji at a local studio some 10 years ago in Melbourne. I guess I could say that I was genuinely looking for a spiritual teacher. Someone that would provide me context for the many “new age” books I had read and the meditation courses I had attended since my late teens. I would never have guessed that by taking this first step my life was about to change to the degree that it has. Upon meeting Swamiji and purchasing the introductory talks I set time aside to listen and, like a book you can’t put down, was totally absorbed and able to realize a depth of knowledge beyond any “best seller.”
It was the assimilation of this knowledge over time that helped me make sense of the world that we live in and how we respond to the challenges of life. Amongst many things, it taught me about the nature of who we are and that as humans we are all searching for the same thing. Happiness!
I would recommend to anyone that is searching for a spiritual life to listen to Swamiji. When you have given the material a chance I’m very certain that the treasure awaiting you has indeed always been waiting for you.
Eleven years ago, a friend put in front of me an ad published in the local paper for a talk given by a Swami in Chatswood and asked me to attend with her. I said, “No way!” She left the paper near me and during the afternoon, I glanced a few times at the photo. I became puzzled by the look of the “Swami.” Yes, long hair, long beard… but something was different… the picture was of a Caucasian person… This pricked my curiosity and I accompanied my friend two days later. The rest is history!
Swami Govindananda ji is an eloquent, humorous speaker and his teaching of Bhakti Yoga is thought provoking, challenging and up-lifting. His teaching and support have been instrumental in keeping me focussed and true to my faith in God. To him, I offer my forever gratitude for bringing into my life this wonderful philosophy.
I’ve known Swamiji for 16 years. He’s changed my life, and saved my life many times. He carries with him his Master’s energy and depth, so when you relate to him, you are receiving the benefit of the Master’s wisdom and strength. This is an incredibly rare and powerful thing. He operates on a different level than the rest of us, and therefore can give you insight and advice that you will not receive anywhere else. Swamiji is living an extraordinary life, and through my association with him, so am I.
Like attracts like, so Swamiji has gathered around him a community of very high quality people. The Ji Living community is second to none: light-hearted but very deep, engaged in the world but not overwhelmed by it, wise and respectful, humble and strong, fun and healthy. It’s a great community of people and a backbone for my spiritual growth and development.
